ENCINITAS — A train fatally struck a pedestrian Wednesday near San Elijo State Beach, authorities reported.
The incident occurred about 1 p.m. in the area of Chesterfield Drive and South Coast Highway 101, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim died at the scene, Lt. Joe Barry said.
Further details, including the pedestrian’s identity, were not immediately available as of late afternoon.
