Leadership plays a crucial role in the workplace. The ability to empower your employees, motivate them and inspire them leads to a positive work environment, thus leading to more productive results.
Last year the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce formed a Leadership Committee. The committee’s mission is to engage and inspire diverse servant leaders to transform the community through vision, collaboration, engagement and generosity. Through their efforts the Chamber has hosted several workshops that covered topics such as Collaborative Leadership, Cultural Intelligence, and Conscious Leadership.
Business owners are still challenged with staffing and employment retention. The Leadership Development Program is designed to address those needs. This professional development program is designed for owners and their employees. The program is comprised of five three-hour sessions and will occur each Tuesday in October from 7:30-10:30 am at Union Cowork in the North City district in San Marcos.
Topics for the Leadership Program will include Building Trust, Emotional Intelligence, Collaborative Leadership, Leveraging Technology, Sales & Marketing and more. In addition to our committee members facilitating these sessions we have a group of guest speakers that play a prominent role in our city. They include City Manager Michelle Bender, Palomar College President Emeritus Dr. George Boggs, Miguel de Jesus, Founder and CEO @ Purpose & Action and Maya Madsen, owner of Maya’s Cookies.
The Leadership Program is led by Richard Marks, founder and President of DM Management. “Empower your business with the tools that thrive,” said Marks. “These topics will teach you how to navigate social complexities positively through our Emotional Intelligence session.”
As a leader it’s important how you handle conflict and to have your employee’s trust. These are additional areas that will be included in various sessions.
We look forward to enhancing these initiatives as the year goes by and are always looking for new ways to leverage our partnerships in order to help our Chamber members and grow the local economy.
Space is limited to 25 participants. Includes Certificate of Completion from CSUSM.
