Pedestrian struck by train at crossing in Encinitas dies

ENCINITAS — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a train at the Chesterfield Drive crossing in Encinitas yesterday afternoon, deputies said.

It happened about 3 p.m., and North County Transit District train service was suspended, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Pat McEvoy said.

Chesterfield Drive also was closed following the incident.
