RAMONA — A man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of robbing a Ramona resident after threatening him with a metal pole and fleeing with the victim’s wallet, authorities said.
Just before 8:30 a.m., a resident at the Terre at Oak Apartments on the 100 block of 14th Street was taking out the trash when he was confronted by a man later identified as Ruben Jimenez Jr., 39, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
Jimenez allegedly brandished a metal pole in a threatening manner and demanded the man’s wallet. Fearing for his safety, the victim complied, and Jimenez fled the scene, deputies said.
The victim later spotted Jimenez outside a Bank of America branch in the 1400 block of Main Street and called authorities.
Deputies from the Ramona Sheriff’s Substation responded and took Jimenez into custody. Detectives served a search warrant at his residence, where they recovered the vehicle allegedly used in the robbery, the metal pole, and the victim’s wallet.
Jimenez was arrested on suspicion of robbery and resisting arrest and booked into the San Diego Central Jail.
