Cardiff-by-the-Sea was founded in 1911 so it was only 2 years old when forward thinking people knew they needed a library. It was Christmas Eve, 1913 when 38 residents gathered in S.M. (Solomon) Holbrooks grocery to make application for a library.
Cardiff-by-the-Sea had the good fortune to become the home of Cardiff Seaside Market in 1985 when John and Pete Najjar opened their 12,500 square foot store in the Cardiff Town Center.
Cardiff-by-the-Sea, named for Cardiff, Wales, is a destination point for camping, surfing, and fine dining and a great place to live.
Spring is always a new beginning and as usual this spring many events are taking place in Cardiff-by-the-Sea so mark your calendars and join the fun.

Alison Burns, a native Brit, has lived in Europe, Asia and the Middle East working as both magazine editor and newspaper columnist. She holds degrees in French and Business from London’s University of the South Bank and another in Communications and Media Management from the University of South Australia.
Cardiff-by-the-Sea Library celebrated 98 years of serving the community in March. The library has had many homes and once was housed in the Scout House in Glen Park.
