Body of man found in overturned truck in Warner Springs ravine

WARNER SPRINGS — The body of a man was found Sunday inside a truck that had overturned and rolled into a ravine near Warner Springs, according to authorities.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, California Highway Patrol, Cal Fire and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 30847 Chihuahua Valley Road near Valley Oak Lane on Sunday afternoon.

A Warner Springs woman called the sheriff’s office Sunday morning to report that her husband was last seen Saturday around 4:40 p.m., according to SDSO Lt. David Perkins. Deputies launched a helicopter as part of the search and also attempted to obtain the husband’s cellphone location, Perkins said.

Shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday, the unidentified woman located her husband’s truck overturned in a ravine about 1 1/2 miles from home. Deputies were unable to reach the vehicle and requested assistance from Cal Fire.

Once it was determined the 43-year-old man had died, the case was turned over to the CHP Sunday afternoon as a fatal single-vehicle crash, according to Perkins.
