SERVICE AWARD

Callahan Domine of Carmel Valley, a doctor of osteopathic medicine student at Des Moines University Medicine Health and Sciences, earned a student service award for his volunteerism. After students complete 50 hours of service, they compose a reflection of how volunteering impacted their understanding of the community and themselves.

DEAN’S LIST

Elian Vera of Del Mar made the spring dean’s list at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania.

EDUCATION PROGRAM

Hudson Taylor of Carlsbad, a student at the University of Alabama, worked for Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa, Inc. as part of the school’s Cooperative Education Program, in which students alternate periods of full-time study and full-time employment.

GARDEN CLUB

The Carlsbad Garden Club has elected the following officers for the 2026-2027 year: President Julianne Adamik, Vice President Jean Cook, Treasurer Theresa Perrone, member Kathy Marre, and Secretaries Karen Burstein and Gwen Adams.

FINANCIAL AWARD

North County Transit – San Diego Railroad (NCTD) was awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada for its annual comprehensive financial report for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.

OKTOBERFEST VENDORS

ALZHEIMER’S SUPPORT

Silvergate Retirement Residence invites the community to join Team Silvergate in an eight-week fundraising campaign Supporting Alzheimer’s San Diego. The campaign runs August through September and features a series of family-friendly events leading up to the 2026 Walk4ALZ on Oct. 17 in Balboa Park. Team Silvergate’s goal is to raise $20,000.
