FUSION DANCE
The competition team at Fusion Dance Solana Beach, a local dance school, is one of the top 14 finalists in the United States for the 2026 Industry Dance Awards People’s Choice Award.
DAYCARE CENTER
Children’s Paradise Preschool and Infant Centers opened its third location in Escondido — and ninth in the county — at Iglesia Bautista Fundamental, 221 W. 7th Avenue, a nearly $3 million investment that will provide 141 childcare spaces for local families. The campus features a newly constructed playground designed to encourage outdoor learning and active play. The project also included ADA accessibility improvements to the church campus. The organization’s tenth child care center is under construction in Ramona.
WORKFORCE CONTRACT
The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce was awarded up to $514,556 to deliver customized workforce training for employers throughout the county by the California Employment Training Panel. The Chamber expects to provide training opportunities for nearly 500 workers across a broad range of industries.
FOOD SECURITY
Escondido’s Del Lago Academy’s DECA chapter was awarded a $500 grant from the Foundation for Impact on Literacy and Learning, in partnership with Albertsons Companies Foundation’s Nourishing Neighbors, to address food insecurity among students. The chapter received the grant after its members organized a month-long fundraiser that raised $400 to purchase energy and granola bars for care packages distributed to college freshmen throughout Southern California.
TOP ORTHOPEDIC CARE
U.S. News and World Report named Scripps Health as No. 1 for orthopedic care in the San Diego region and among the nation’s top 50 in six adult medical specialties in the 2026 U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings. Scripps Mercy Hospital, Scripps Green Hospital and Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla were ranked among the five best in the county.
DESIGN HONORS
KTGY, a national design firm focused on architecture, interior design, branded environments and urban design, was recognized for its work on Tower24 Ponto Beach, a new townhome community in Carlsbad. The project won the Golden Nugget Grand Award for Best Built-For-Rent Community Product Design and multiple awards of merit, including Best Infill Community, Best Built-For-Rent Community Plan, Best Multifamily Housing Community (under 20 dwelling units per acre), and Multifamily Community of the Year.
CHEN CENTER
Solutions for Change recently celebrated the grand opening of The Chen Center for Transformational Impact, a newly redesigned classroom for Solutions Academy, the 700-day program for parents experiencing homelessness. The program combines housing with education, employment training, career development, financial literacy, parenting and relationship skills, personal development and individualized support.
ALZHEIMER’S SUPPORT
Silvergate Retirement Residence is inviting residents, families, employees and members of the surrounding community to join Team Silvergate in an eight-week fundraising campaign supporting Alzheimer’s San Diego. Beginning in August and continuing through September, the campaign features a series of fun, family-friendly fundraising events leading up to the 2026 Walk4ALZ on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Balboa Park.
