ESCONDIDO — A 17-year-old boy accused of raping a teenage girl at gunpoint as she walked to school in Escondido pleaded not guilty July 14 to charges of forcible rape, kidnapping and robbery.
Daniel Joseph Entzminger faces up to 50 years to life in prison in connection to the July 9 incident that occurred near a bike path off North Ash Street and East Valley Parkway.
Police said the defendant forced the girl off the path and into the bushes around 8:30 a.m., and then rapped and robbed her; he was arrested the following day at Washington Park in possession of the victim’s belongings.
Prosecutors said they charged Entzminger as an adult because of the serious nature of the crime. The teenager, who remains in custody on $1 million bail, is scheduled to be back in court July 28 for a preliminary hearing.
