CARLSBAD — Students were safely evacuated from the Poinsettia Elementary School campus Wednesday afternoon after a reported fire in one of the buildings, authorities said.
Emergency crews responded to the campus at 2445 Mica Road around 3:45 p.m., with at least one engine from Station 2 arriving on scene, according to the Carlsbad Fire Department. No active flames were observed, and firefighters remained at the site as a precaution.
No other information was immediately available, according to Holly Gonzales, public information officer for the Carlsbad Fire Department.
School officials said all students were accounted for and unharmed. Parents were instructed to pick up their children at the north gate near Geode Lane, at the far end of the grass field.
The cause of the incident was not immediately known.
