Sought in Poway attempted murder investigation

SAN DIEGO — Authorities are asking the public for help in tracking down a man suspected of assaulting an ex-girlfriend of his last week in a neighborhood near Carmel Mountain Ranch Open Space Park, gravely injuring her.

Jeronimo Cedillo, 38, allegedly forced entry to a home in the 14100 block of Brighton Avenue in Poway shortly before 3 a.m. on Aug. 11 and attacked 43-year-old Azucena Gonzalez Martinez with an undisclosed type of weapon.

Cedillo fled prior to the arrival of deputies, who found the woman suffering from severe trauma, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. Paramedics took the victim to a hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition, Lt. Juan Marquez said.

Cedillo, who is the subject of an attempted murder arrest warrant in the case, is known to frequent various parts of the San Diego area, as well as Los Angeles County and Mexico.
