“I am very excited that I am able to support the San Diego SeaLions at their home opener,” said Buehler. “I am proud to be from the San Diego soccer community, and believe that with local support we provide a perfect environment for high level women’s soccer to thrive.”

A San Diego native, Buehler played soccer at Torrey Pine High School. She also competed for the San Diego Surf Soccer Club for seven years, and was named the Surf’s Player of the year in 2003. Buehler went on to play at Stanford, where she was a three-year captain and an All-Pac-10 Conference First-Team selection. In 2009, she was allocated to the FC Gold Pride for the inaugural WPS season. In 2010, she captained the Gold Pride to the WPS title, and then signed with the Boston Breakers in 2011. Buehler is currently training with the U.S. National Women’s Team, and will compete in the 2012 London Olympics for the United States.

The SeaLions will kick off their 2012 WPSL campaign on the road against the LA Vikings on June 2. They return to Del Mar for their home opener on June 3 at 4 p.m. versus Ajax America Women at Cathedral Catholic High School.

The San Diego SeaLions were established in 1988, and is one of the oldest women’s soccer clubs in the country. The SeaLions were one of six founding members of the WPSL, a league that now has over 70 teams across the nation and is currently the largest women’s soccer league in the world.
