The opening of the new Lusardi Tower at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas marks a significant milestone for the hospital and the North County community. For Dr. Eisman, Chief Operations Executive and physician at Scripps Encinitas, the expansion reflects decades of growth while staying true to the hospital’s mission of exceptional patient care.
“The new Lusardi Tower expansion is a very meaningful event for Scripps Encinitas,” Dr. Eisman said. “For me personally and professionally, it represents an incredible leap forward in our ability to deliver the highest quality care to an increasing number of patients through expanded capacity and state-of-the-art care.”
Dr. Eisman also had a unique connection to the project.
“My involvement with the Lusardi Tower was principally related to being privileged to be the physician for both Debbie and Warner Lusardi. After many discussions, and with the collaboration of the Scripps Foundation working with the incredible generosity of the Lusardi family, the vision for Lusardi Tower was ultimately achieved.”
The new tower helps meet the growing healthcare needs of North County by expanding patient rooms, procedural areas, private beds, women’s health services, and emergency department capacity.
“Scripps does grow alongside the community. Local residents now will have greater access to healthcare both for routine and advanced procedures.”
While the building itself is impressive, Dr. Eisman believes the heart of Scripps remains its people.
“The beauty of the building and of course the spaciousness are appreciated at first sight, but ultimately the most important factor are the people who work here and the culture: welcoming and always willing to help while putting our patients first.”
As one of Encinitas’ largest employers and a longtime member of the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce, Scripps values its role in the community.
“We want to be good stewards, listening to the needs of our community and responding to those who need our help.”
After 40 years at Scripps Encinitas, Dr. Eisman says the hospital’s growth has never changed its dedication to patients.
“The size of our hospital is much bigger, our ability to take care of our patients and the number of patients we treat is much greater, but we do it with the same dedication for each patient.”
His perfect day in Encinitas? “Coming to work, seeing how this campus has grown over the last 40 years, enjoying the beautiful view and being thankful that I get to work here.”
