ENCINITAS — Former San Dieguito Academy student Jacob Clark has earned a regional Emmy Award for his television news reporting less than two years after graduating from college.
Clark, a Cardiff-by-the-Sea native and Class of 2025 graduate of American University, received the honor on June 27 at the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Pacific Southwest Chapter Emmy Awards, held at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines.
Clark works as a weekend anchor and political reporter for KGET-TV in Bakersfield. He joined the station after graduating from college as a political reporter covering Kern County before being promoted to weekend anchor, where he anchors weekend newscasts, presents weather forecasts and continues reporting.
Clark and his colleagues received the Emmy in the Continuing Coverage category for “The Scrivner Saga: A Community Seeking Justice,” which documented community reaction following the sentencing of a former Kern County supervisor accused of sexually abusing a preteen girl.
“It was a tremendous privilege to win this award, and I am incredibly grateful to my colleagues and news director at KGET,” Clark said.
The Pacific Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences recognizes excellence in television journalism across San Diego, Bakersfield, Palm Springs, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and Las Vegas.
