Pedestrian killed by Coaster

ENCINITAS — A pedestrian was killed by a southbound Coaster train in Encinitas the evening of Nov. 8.Shortly after 6 p.m., Encinitas sheriff deputies responded to a call of a pedestrian struck by a Coaster train on the 1400 block of South Coast Highway near Swami’s Beach, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Department. The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries from the collision and was declared dead at the scene.

One train track was closed temporarily during the investigation, said Deputy Patterson from the Encinitas sheriff’s station.

The pedestrian is being identified by the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office.
