Pedestrian hit, killed by car on El Camino Real in Encinitas

ENCINITAS — A 37-year-old man was killed Wednesday evening after being struck by a vehicle on North El Camino Real in Encinitas, the Sheriff’s Department reported this week.

The unidentified man is believed to have been crossing the street in the 200 block of North El Camino Real when he was struck by a vehicle just after 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 8, Sgt. Jeremy Collis said.

Paramedics and deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station attempted life-saving measures and transported the victim to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries, Collis said.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and was cooperative in the investigation, and they were not believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Collis said. Deputies are continuing to investigate the incident.

Anyone who may have additional information related to the collision is urged to call the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station Traffic Division at 760-966-3500.
