Motorcyclist, 23, fatally struck by car in San Marcos

SAN MARCOS — A 23-year-old man riding a motorcycle was struck and killed by a vehicle in San Marcos on Tuesday evening, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station responded to reports of a traffic collision around 5:26 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the 2300 block of Montiel Road near Montiel Park.

According to the department, the motorcycle was traveling westbound and collided with an eastbound Nissan Altima. The motorcyclist was discovered unresponsive in the westbound lanes of Montiel Road, and despite life-saving measures from first responders, was pronounced deceased by 5:52 p.m.

Law enforcement has not released the victim’s name as of Wednesday morning.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to the department. The San Marcos Sheriff’s Station Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate the incident, and it is currently unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.
