For Jen Michaelson, community is more than a word; it is something she lives every day. A San Diego County native, Jen is proud to call the region home. Through her role as Events and Marketing Specialist with the Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce, she’s found a meaningful way to combine her passion for people, events, and building connections.
Jen grew up in Escondido and attended Cal State San Marcos, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. Today, she lives in San Marcos with her husband and their two boys.
With a longstanding passion for event planning, Jen found her position at the Solana Beach Chamber to be a natural fit.
In her role, she enjoys creating opportunities for local businesses and community members to connect, collaborate and build relationships.
“I feel so grateful to call Solana Beach my work home,” Jen says.
For Jen, the most rewarding part of her job is watching connections happen. Whether through a Chamber gathering, networking opportunity, or special event, she loves seeing people meet, exchange ideas and discover ways to work together.
Her commitment to community involvement extends well beyond her professional life. After her father passed away from pancreatic cancer, Jen became involved with PanCAN, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting pancreatic cancer. At the time, she was a stay-at-home parent and found purpose in volunteering and supporting the cause.
For 11 years, Jen has dedicated her time as a team captain for PanCAN’s annual 5K walk/run, helping her team raise more than $59,000 in support of pancreatic cancer research and awareness.
That experience reinforced her belief in the power of people working together, a belief she continues to bring to her work at the Chamber.
Jen is especially excited about the momentum the Solana Beach Chamber is building. A recent highlight was the launch of the Chamber’s first-ever Health & Wellness Summit. Working closely with a talented committee and team, she helped bring the event to life and was excited to see it embraced by the community. Its success demonstrated the impact of teamwork and the value of creating new opportunities for collaboration and connection.
When she is not working, Jen stays busy volunteering at her children’s schools, attending concerts, traveling, and cheering on her kids at their sporting events.
She also has a fun and unexpected passion: meteorology. Jen has always loved weather and hopes to one day go storm chasing across the Great Plains.
With her enthusiasm, community spirit, and passion for bringing people together, Jen Michaelson is helping the Solana Beach Chamber continue to grow; one event, one connection and one relationship at a time.
