Man attacked in Encinitas

ENCINITAS – A man walking home from a bar on the 1000 block of North Coast Highway 101 was attacked in the early morning hours Friday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The man did not see his attacker and was unable to provide deputies with any information.

According to Sheriff’s deputies, the man said he felt two impacts to his head. He was rendered unconscious and awoke to find lacerations on the front and back of his head and was bleeding actively.

The man was transported to Scripps La Jolla Hospital for treatment.

At the scene, a miniature baseball bat was found on the ground. Investigators believe the bat was the weapon used in the assault.

Detectives from the Encinitas Sheriff’s substation are conducting the investigation.
