FALLBROOK — A 34-year-old man was arrested Thursday after allegedly robbing a U.S. Bank in Fallbrook, authorities said.
San Diego County sheriff’s deputies responded around 9:20 a.m. to a robbery in progress at the bank at 1678 S. Mission Road. Investigators said the man entered the bank, handed a teller a note demanding money and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Deputies found property belonging to the suspect in the parking lot of the Rodeway Inn and located him in the hotel lobby, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Gabriel Garza was detained without incident. Deputies recovered evidence linking him to the robbery, and several witnesses identified him as the suspect, authorities said.
Garza was arrested on suspicion of robbery and booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
Detectives from the sheriff’s Fallbrook Substation are investigating the robbery with assistance from the FBI.
