Man, 19, pleads not guilty to alleged rape in CSUSM housing

VISTA — A 19-year-old arrested last week by Cal State San Marcos police for allegedly raping an unconscious student on Jan. 31 was arraigned Monday morning at the Vista Courthouse.

Brandon Reylando Roldan pleaded not guilty to all three charges, and the judge scheduled a preliminary readiness hearing for Nov. 10.

Roldan remains free on a $100,000 bond following his Oct. 27 arrest, and a court order prohibits him from having any contact with the victim, according to a statement from the District Attorney’s Office.

Charging documents filed by prosecutors allege that on the night of Jan. 31 or early Feb. 1, Roldan had sex with an unconscious woman while knowing she was unconscious.

He is charged with rape of an unconscious person, sexual penetration of an unconscious person and oral copulation of an unconscious person.

CSUSM police logs indicate the alleged crime was reported in on-campus housing.
