RANCHO SANTA FE — A driver was hospitalized in critical condition after a solo-vehicle crash involving a Ferrari early Wednesday in Rancho Santa Fe, authorities said.
The crash was reported about 7:30 a.m. Feb. 4 in the 4700 block of La Noria, according to the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Department. Officials said the gray Ferrari was traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway and struck a tree, causing extensive damage to the vehicle.
No other vehicles were involved, and no additional injuries were reported. The driver was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The California Highway Patrol noted that February is Speed Safety Awareness Month and urged drivers to slow down, wear seat belts and remember that public roads are not racetracks.
