DEL MAR HEIGHTS — An injured hiker was rescued by firefighters today and transported to a hospital.
The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department responded to a call for an open-air rescue at 10:17 a.m. on Friday in the San Dieguito River Park east of the Del Mar Heights neighborhood.
Crews were on the scene 12 minutes later.
“A woman fell while hiking,” said Monica Munoz, SDFD media services manager. “She was transported to Thornton Hospital.”
Thirty personnel responded to the incident, including one utility and one rescue vehicle, one helicopter, three engines, one medic, one truck and three battalion chiefs.
