ENCINITAS — A female driver was killed on Tuesday night after her minivan collided with a retaining wall in the 500 block of Via Cantebria.
A preliminary investigation found that the woman was driving north on Via Cantebria just after 11:30 p.m. when her minivan left the road, collided with a pole or streetlight and then crashed into a retaining wall, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.Â
Deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station and paramedics rushed to help the driver, but she was found deceased in the driver’s seat, law enforcement said. She was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.Â

According to Lt. Ryan Wisniewski, the Sheriff’s Department traffic accident reconstruction team will work to recreate the path of the collision to determine what happened.Â
The woman’s identity has not been released pending notification of kin.
