CARLSBAD — Late last month, police department detectives arrested an Oceanside man following a months-long investigation into a series of burglaries, mail thefts and identity theft incidents.
Roger Hoover, 36, was arrested on June 26 after he was identified as a suspect in the multiple ongoing cases occurring throughout Carlsbad, including attempts to fraudulently use stolen credit cards.
A search warrant was served at his Oceanside residence, where investigators recovered numerous items of evidentiary value connected to open CPD investigations.
Officers also discovered a large quantity of mail believed to have been stolen from victims across San Diego County.
Hoover was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on 23 felony charges and three misdemeanor charges related to identity theft, burglary and vandalism.
Police are working with the San Diego District Attorney’s Office to investigate the ongoing case.
Carlsbad detectives will continue efforts to identify and reach out to potential victims as allowed. The department is also working with regional law enforcement to share information that may support the investigation.
“We remain committed to holding offenders accountable and protecting the community through thorough investigations and strong interagency collaboration,” stated Denise Ramirez, public information officer for CPD, via email.
