BORREGO SPRINGS — A magnitude 4.0 earthquake occurred at 10:58 today about 10 miles southwest of Borrego Springs, producing enough seismic energy to briefly jostle most of San Diego County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. There have been no initial reports of significant damage.
The entire Borrego Springs-Anza region is fairly active, and there have been more quakes than usual since the 7.2 Easter Sunday quake, which occurred in Baja California, near Mexicali.
