RISING STARS
The Encinitas Chamber of Commerce recently honored five high school seniors during its first Rising Star Student Recognition Breakfast of the 2026-2027 school year: Reego-Darian Rivera of Canyon Crest Academy, Myla Christenson of La Costa Canyon High School, Quade Kelley of the online learning program at Requeza Educational Center, Francisca Perez Carillo of San Dieguito Academy, and Baylin Tsai of Torrey Pines High School.
HONOR SOCIETY
Kristan Curren of Carlsbad was recently elected to the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at Louisiana State University Shreveport.
LOCAL AUTHOR
San Marcos resident Dr. Jerry Yonga, a Fulbright specialist, professor and author, recently completed his 82nd book, “The Art of a Happy Life.” The book is part of his quest to publish 100 meaningful books by 2030.
SUMMER SHOWCASE
Over the summer, families and their musical students gathered to celebrate their achievements at the Giacoletti Music Center’s 48th Annual Star-Spangled Summer Showcases held at The Vistonian in Vista. The recitals featured piano, violin, cello, voice and band performances from musicians of all ages and experience levels. More than 30 students received National Piano Guild Certificates.
COUNSELING MERGER
TrueCare and Palomar Family Counseling Service have officially merged, adding a longtime behavioral health provider to TrueCare’s services as a community health center and expanding access to integrated physical and mental health care for patients. The combined organization expects to serve nearly 80,000 people annually with more than 1,000 clinicians and staff.
BUSINESS ANNIVERSARY
Carlsbad-based Capstone Advisors, a diversified real estate investment, development and advisory firm, is celebrating 30 years of owning, operating and developing commercial real estate across the country, having completed over $4 billion in strategic investments. To mark the anniversary, the firm committed $150,000 in charitable contributions to 30 nonprofit organizations, including several local schools.
