Whalen named secretary of board

RANCHO SANTA FE — The Sept. 1 Rancho Santa Fe Association Board of Directors monthly meeting took care of some internal actions which included naming a new secretary. The board agreed to name its new interim manager, Christy Whalen, as secretary.

Former interim manager, Don May, was named as the assistant secretary. May currently holds the position of accounting, technology and compliance director.

Rick Sapp, who now holds a seat on the RSF board of directors, after filling in Ann Boon’s vacancy, officially resigned his spot on the Governance Committee. It was noted that too many board members were on this particular committee and that was the reason for Sapp’s resignation.

During the meeting, it was also decided that Sapp would be appointed as the board liaison to the Committee on the Natural Environment (CONE).

Board director Ken Markstein shared that the executive search firm that will be assisting the Association in seeking a new manager will be Peckham & McKenney, Inc.

The firm, based in Roseville, Calif., offers executive searches to particularly government agencies in the Western portion of the U.S.  Markstein shared that they are currently developing a profile for the managerial candidate.

During member input, Ranch resident and board president of the RSF Tennis Club Dave Van Den Berg, thanked the board for their recent approval of sponsored memberships at the club.

“Because of your approval of that, we can now have a full complement once again of members at the tennis club. We have added 14 new members over the past month because of your approval,” he said. “Thank you very much.”
