Two arrests made in Carlsbad stabbing

CARLSBAD — On Tuesday morning, the Carlsbad Police Department arrested two suspects for allegedly stabbing a 21-year-old man, according to Jodee Sasway, public information officer for the Carlsbad Police Department. 

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and has been released from the hospital.

The incident reportedly occurred at Las Flores Drive and Pio Pico Drive in Carlsbad.

Around 2:30 a.m., the Carlsbad Police Department received a call from Tri-City Hospital regarding a stabbing victim. After interviewing the victim, officers tracked and arrested 19-year-old Drew Davidson at 3:21 a.m. in the 6500 block of Paseo Frontera in Carlsbad.

Another suspect, 20-year-old Dylan Maldonado, was arrested at 7:45 a.m. in the 2300 block of Cipriano Lane in Carlsbad.

The victim knew both suspects, but Sasway said she could not provide further details, as the incident is still under investigation. Sasway also said the motive for the stabbing is under investigation.

Davidson and Maldonado were booked at the Vista Detention Facility. The charges will be determined after further investigation.
