SAN MARCOS — A teenager was taken to the hospital with severe injuries on Tuesday night after being struck by a truck while riding an e-bike in a hit-and-run collision in San Marcos.
The collision occurred around 9 p.m. near the intersection of West Mission Road and Knoll Road. According to Deputy Jerry Dana, the 16-year-old is believed to have entered the roadway traveling eastbound on Mission Road when the hit-and-run occurred.
Sheriff’s officials said the teenager was hit by a white pickup truck, described as a lifted 2019-2020 GMC Sierra, with front end damage, including a broken headlamp, fender and antenna. The truck fled the scene after the collision.
The teen sustained “significant internal injuries,” according to Dana. He could not confirm the speed at which the vehicle was traveling.
