OCEANSIDE — A female security guard on patrol at a senior residential community reported being stabbed by a white male in his 30s on Sept. 18.
Neighbors told a local television station that they heard the guard’s blood curdling screams and called police.
The incident happened at 2 p.m. at Sundown Park, a private community park located in the 3500 block of Sundown Lane.
When police arrived, they found the security guard with the knife still in her abdomen.
The victim told police she recognized the man in the park from a security video of a robbery in the neighborhood.
She said she approached the man who was behind a park maintenance shed, a fight ensued and the man stabbed her and fled.
Police Lt. Leonard Cosby said it is very unusual for a stabbing to happen in that neighborhood.
Police reports state the security guard remained calm through the incident. Neighbors describe her as very professional.
Police, a K-9 tracking dog and a San Diego Sheriff helicopter searched the area for the suspect.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No vital organs were damaged.
She was shown a suspect lineup, while at the hospital, which included a man found in the area. She did not identify him as the suspect, who remains at large.
The suspect may face charges of assault with a deadly weapon and robbery.
North Coast Security services declined answering questions about the incident, which is under investigation.
The suspect is described as a white male, age 30 to 35, with a shaved head, wearing a white tank top and baggy white shorts.
