SDUHSD to hire recruiting firm for superintendent search

ENCINITAS — The San Dieguito Union High School District will vote Friday morning on hiring a search firm to assist in its superintendent search.

The special session is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. May 20 at the District Office Board Room 101 at 710 Encinitas Blvd.

The school district is looking for a new superintendent after current top administrator Rick Schmitt announced he would be taking the same post with the San Ramon Valley Unified School District in Northern California.

Schmitt leaves his current post June 30 and starts his new job July 1.

In addition to deliberating and selecting a recruitment firm — which will be paid for from the district’s general fund — the school board will also discuss the timeline for the search, desired qualities and characteristics in the new superintendent and identify groups in the community and staff that they will solicit input for the search.
