Pedestrian fatally struck by train in Encinitas

ENCINITAS — An individual died Tuesday morning after being struck by a train along the North County Transit District right-of-way in Encinitas. 

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office received a call about the pedestrian collision at Ashbury Street and North Vulcan Avenue around 8:39 a.m.

Deputies who arrived at the scene confirmed that the individual was deceased and requested assistance from the sheriff’s Railroad Assistance Team, according to Lt. David Chandroo. 

No further information was immediately available about the pedestrian or the circumstances of the collision.
