Motorcyclist killed in collision in Oceanside

OCEANSIDE — A 27-year-old man driving a motorcycle was killed in a collision involving another vehicle in Oceanside today, authorities said.

The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Douglas Drive and North River Road, according to the Oceanside Police Department

A 33-year-old Oceanside man driving a silver Ford F-150 made a left turn into an AM-PM gas station, whereupon a motorcyclist riding a black Kawasaki sport bike traveling southbound on Douglas Drive struck the passenger side of the truck, the department reported.

The rider of the motorcycle was ejected from his bike and suffered life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Tri-City Medical Center, where he died shortly afterward, officials said.

Police said the driver of the truck remained at the scene and was cooperative.

“Speed of the motorcycle will be a factor in this collision; however, alcohol/drug influence was determined NOT to be a factor for the driver of the F-150,” the department said.

The name of the motorcyclist was not immediately available.

Authorities urged anyone with information regarding the accident to call Officer Kevin Lissner at 760-435-4651.
