ENCINITAS — An investigation is underway into how an 85-year-old woman found unresponsive inside her Encinitas home suffered injuries that medical staff believed were suspicious, authorities said.
The woman was found unresponsive Saturday inside her home in the 1000 block of C Street, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital for further medical evaluation.
“While being treated at the hospital, medical staff discovered injuries they believed were suspicious in nature and notified law enforcement,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
The woman’s condition declined Sunday, according to sheriff’s officials.
The Sheriff’s Homicide Unit is investigating to determine how the woman was injured.
