SAN MARCOS — An early afternoon fire engulfed a trio of buildings at a San Marcos apartment complex Monday, forcing evacuations and street closures as crews worked to subdue the flames.
The blaze in the 200 block of West San Marcos Boulevard erupted shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 2, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and firefighters arrived to find three buildings burning at the complex just north of state Route 78 and east of Knoll Road, sheriff’s Lt. Jason Phillips said.
Authorities evacuated people from nearby buildings and closed traffic lanes as firefighters battled the flames.
The blaze, which caused no reported injuries, appeared to be largely subdued as of shortly before 2 p.m., Phillips said.
