Long immersed in Encinitas’ healthy, connected lifestyle, Encinitas Chamber of Commerce CEO Carol Knight is deeply focused on strengthening the connection between local businesses and the broader community. Her commitment is shaped by her 23 years living in Encinitas, and experiencing firsthand what makes the city such a special place to live and stay active at every stage of life.
“A healthy business environment and a healthy community go hand in hand,” Knight said. “When we invest in people, we’re investing in the long-term vitality of Encinitas.”
One area of growing focus is the senior community. Adults aged 60 and older represent one of the fastest-growing and most engaged segments of the population. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, by 2030, one in five Americans will be over 65. In Encinitas, approximately 20 percent of residents are already 65 and older.
“Our senior population is not slowing down — they’re redefining what it means to age well. This isn’t just about longevity. It’s about staying active, staying connected, and continuing to live with purpose.”
That philosophy is at the heart of the Chamber’s upcoming “Live Boldly. Live Well.” Senior Lifestyle Expo, taking place Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Encinitas Community & Senior Center, presented in partnership with the City of Encinitas. The event is free and open to the public.
Designed for active seniors, adults planning for retirement, caregivers, and families navigating life’s next chapter, the Expo brings together trusted local experts in healthcare, housing and aging in place, financial and retirement planning, fitness, travel, lifestyle enrichment, and community services.
“Research shows that staying socially connected improves physical health, mental well-being, and overall quality of life. Events like this help bring those connections to life.”
Attendees will also enjoy complimentary breakfast and coffee hosted by the Encinitas Rotary’s Home Team, opportunity drawings, and a welcoming atmosphere designed to spark conversation and connection.
The Chamber is currently inviting businesses and organizations that serve the senior community to participate as exhibitors. “This is a meaningful way for businesses to connect with an engaged audience while supporting independent, healthy living.”
“I hope the Senior Lifestyle Expo inspires people to see what’s possible when we live boldly, live well, and stay connected — at every age,” she added. “Hope to see you there!”
