ENCINITAS — A man was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly stabbing a woman Tuesday morning.
At 3 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a woman screaming in an apartment complex at 802 Regal Road. They were directed to an apartment unit within the complex, where they found a broken window and blood around an apartment exterior. Deputies then made contact with 29-year-old Jeremy James Boone, the resident of the apartment. He resisted two deputies’ efforts to take him into custody. During the altercation, one of the deputy’s hands was broken, according to Encinitas Sheriff Lt. Kenn Nelson.
Shortly after, the victim, a woman in her mid-20s, was located at Tri-City Medical Center. Nelson said it was later determined that the woman was allegedly stabbed with a knife once during an altercation with Boone after he threatened her with a handgun. Nelson wasn’t sure whether the woman had been released from the hospital, but said her wound was “non-life threatening.”
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the apartment after the stabbing. They found a loaded handgun and approximately 14 ounces of methamphetamine, six ounces of cocaine and two ounces of marijuana.
Boone was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on a count of assault with a deadly weapon. Additional charges, including possession of narcotics and resisting arrest, are possible pending the outcome of the investigation, Nelson said.
