The founder of Daybreak Beach Club, Jada Alexander, grew up in Southern California, where she discovered the ocean’s incredible power to inspire and transform. As a competitive swimmer, water polo player, and lifeguard, she experienced firsthand how connecting with water builds confidence and resilience. This passion led her to study environmental science with a focus on marine ecology at UC Santa Barbara. After graduation, she founded Daybreak Beach Club to help young people discover their own transformative connection with the ocean.
“We’re building the next generation of confident, resilient leaders through ocean-based experiences,” Jada explains. “Recent data of San Diego County student mental health statistics shows that 38% of San Diego County students report experiencing chronic sadness, a concerning 9% increase since 2019. Our program harnesses the ocean’s unique power to heal and transform – from the meditative rhythm of waves that naturally calms anxiety, to the pure joy of riding your first wave, to the humbling experience of learning to read and respect the ocean’s power.”
Daybreak’s signature program serves children ages 6-13 across North County San Diego beaches. “We create breakthrough moments that help kids develop emotional intelligence, social skills, and environmental awareness – essential tools for future leaders. In our supportive environment, every child can thrive, whether they’re building confidence, making new friends, or catching their first wave.”
Jada is an active member of the Encinitas Chamber. “The Chamber has been instrumental in connecting Daybreak with community leaders who share our commitment to youth development and environmental stewardship. These partnerships help us create more opportunities for local families and strengthen our community’s connection to the ocean.”

Jada’s perfect day in Encinitas begins before sunrise, when the world is still quiet.
“After a quick coffee, I head to Swamis to catch the morning waves alongside the pelicans and fellow early risers. These daybreak sessions remind me why we do this work. The rest of my day involves coordinating with parents, planning sessions based on conditions, and managing our growing program. Between tasks, you might find me at the Encinitas Community Park dog park, always ready for whatever adventures the day brings.
