City will make mulch of holiday trees

SOLANA BEACH — A holiday tree recycling collection program is in place
until Jan. 17 through the city of Solana Beach, in partnership with Coast Waste Management, Inc.
Trees do not have to be cut in half if they are dropped off at one of the two recycling locations. The schedule allows residents to drop off their trees free of charge at La Colonia Community Center, 715 Valley Ave. or at City Hall, 635 S. Coast Highway 101. Trees must be clean and free of flocking, lights, ornaments or stands.
For curbside pick-up, trees must be cut in half and will be picked up curbside on your designated trash collection day, with no deadline. In order to be collected and recycled through the green waste program, trees must also be clean and free of flocking, lights, ornaments or stands.
Trees not meeting the requirements above will be collected and disposed of in the trash. Try to remember to clean your tree, so it can be recycled.
For more information, contact City Hall at (858) 720-2477.
