North County families will soon have greater access to nationally recognized maternity care as services return to Oceanside through the new Sharp Mary Birch Center for Women & Newborns at Sharp Tri-City Medical Center.
The expansion brings the trusted care, advanced resources and patient-centered approach of Sharp Mary Birch closer to home for families throughout the region.
Sharp Mary Birch teams throughout San Diego County deliver more than 12,000 babies each year — more than any other health system in San Diego. Their approach to maternity care focuses on personalized support from pregnancy through childbirth and postpartum recovery.
Families in the region will soon benefit from the system’s comprehensive network of services, including prenatal education, hospital tours, lactation support, newborn care guidance and postpartum resources. This extraordinary care is what’s known as The Sharp Experience.

The new center will provide specialty services for mothers and babies, particularly those facing complex pregnancies. Families will benefit from Sharp Mary Birch’s maternal-fetal medicine experts, who provide advanced care for high-risk pregnancies, including multiples, maternal age 35 and older, preterm labor, hypertension, birth defects and prior pregnancy loss.
Other services will include prenatal diagnostic testing, specialized care for newborns and access to neonatal intensive care resources when needed. Additionally, the expansion will connect families to maternal mental health care, childbirth education classes and breastfeeding resources designed to support families well beyond delivery.
According to Khaleghi, the new center will strengthen maternity care options for North County residents while connecting them to Sharp’s broader network of expertise.

As preparations continue, Khaleghi adds that anticipation is building for an especially significant moment. “We eagerly anticipate welcoming the first baby at Sharp Mary Birch Tri-City, a meaningful milestone that reflects the beginning of this new chapter in care for North County families,” she says.
