Teacher buried in native Ireland

OCEANSIDE — Betty Koelfgen, 63, a longtime teacher at the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, died Sept. 16 in her assisted living home in Oceanside from complications of a pulmonary embolism.
Although born and raised in Ireland, Koelfgen lived most of her adult life in the San Fernando Valley. After retiring from teaching in the 1990s, Koelfgen moved to Carlsbad and then San Marcos.
The memorial service and burial took place Sept. 23 in her native Ireland. Koelfgen’s memorial
will be held in St.
Mathew’s Catholic Church, Ballymahon, County, Longford, Ireland. She will be buried beside her late husband, Lee, in Forgney Cemetery, County West Meath, Ireland. To contact St. Matthew’s Church, call 011-353-906-43-2253.
