SOLANA BEACH — The year: 1666; the setting: France. The language: anything but stodgy.
SOLANA BEACH — If the North Coast Repertory Theatre had had a curtain, playwright Melinda Lopez would have been a bundle of nerves before it went up.
SOLANA BEACH — Time passes quickly in the emotionally taut drama, “Time Stands Still,” now onstage at the North Coast Repertory Theatre.
SOLANA BEACH — The entire play takes place in one location: a cluttered office space filled with books, a desk, a couple of chairs, a filing cabinet, a lamp, a fireplace, and two Gothic-style windows.
SOLANA BEACH — Jonathan McMurtry has one of those recognizable faces, especially among television viewers who can see him regularly on popular sitcoms such as “Cheers,” “Frasier” and “Modern Family.”
SOLANA BEACH — There are plenty of words, but not much story in “Words By, Ira Gershwin and the Great American Songbook,” by musician and author Joseph Vass.
