CARLSBAD — A longtime church congregation has relocated from Encinitas to Carlsbad.
Shadow Mountain Community Church’s former Encinitas congregation has moved its Sunday services to the Pine Avenue Community Center.
The congregation worshipped for 71 years under different names at a church across from San Dieguito Academy on Santa Fe Drive, but was forced to relocate after the property owner moved forward with plans to build an approved 51-unit housing subdivision on the site.
“Praise God for our new Carlsbad location,” wrote a representative of Shadow Mountain in a social media post. “We’re a small, loving congregation where everybody knows everybody.”
Pastor Adam Brodwolf will continue to serve in that role at the newly named North County Campus.
Brodwolf told The Coast News that, under Shadow Mountain policy, he could not comment for this story.
Brodwolf led an Aug. 23 celebration of the location, which overlooked the Pacific Ocean and housed the congregation for 71 years.
The group marveled “at all God has done in this place” while singing “old hymns together” and asked “God to be with us as we start meeting at our new location in September,” according to a post signed by Brodwolf.
The pastor added that he planned to bring traditions such as the “Chili Cookoff” to the new location, where the congregation will also serve coffee and doughnuts every Sunday before services, as it had in Encinitas.
The North County Campus plans to meet every Sunday at 10 a.m.
Shadow Mountain Community Church operates at five physical locations and offers online services.
David Jeremiah serves as senior pastor of Shadow Mountain, which he has led since 1981, according to the church’s website.
