Pacific Trails school opens next week

ENCINITAS — San Dieguito Union High School District is celebrating the completion of the district’s newest middle school with a grand-opening ceremony Feb. 26.

Pacific Trails Middle School, the district’s fifth middle school, will open Fall 2016, but attendees will get to tour the new campus before it opens.

The $71.2 million campus, which is near Canyon Crest Academy, was financed with general obligation bonds from the $449 million Proposition AA, which voters approved in 2012.

During the construction, the district tapped Mary Anne Nuskin, the former principal at Earl Warren Middle School, to lead the Pacific Highlands Ranch campus.

The ceremony begins at 2 p.m. Feb. 26 at the school, 5975 Village Center Loop in San Diego.
