In loving memory James “Jim” Richard Viner
August 26, 1949 – September 11, 2024
James Richard Viner, a proud Carlsbad native, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024; he was 75 years old. Jim moved to Carlsbad when he was 5 years old and never left, growing up in the vibrant beach community he loved so much. He was a member of the Carlsbad High School class of 1968 and remained connected to the town throughout his life.
Jim loved surfing and spent countless hours enjoying the waves along Carlsbad’s coast. He also had a deep passion for sports — tennis and baseball in particular. Jim coached over 20 youth teams, always eager to share his enthusiasm and knowledge of the game. In addition, he helped to secure scholarships for underprivileged youth who couldn’t afford the team fees.
Jim is survived by his children, Kevin and Kristin, who will forever cherish the love and life lessons he passed on to them.
