VISTA — Downtown San Diego’s popular pizza restaurant and lounge, BASIC Urban Kitchen + Bar, made its North County debut with the launch of URBN. The casual eatery spin-off opened its doors on Oct. 23 at 203 Main Street in Vista and features BASIC’s award-winning, thin-crust New Haven style pizza as the highlight on the one page menu. URBN selections include everything from traditional pepperoni pizza to signature toppings like fried eggplant, broccoli, fresh little neck clams or the garlic mashed potato and bacon pie.
The 3,000-square-foot location boasts the same industrial “warehouse”-style ambiance that BASIC has become known for, including raw design elements, white subway tile and an open kitchen equipped with a full size brick oven that is visible to guests in the main dining area.
“So many people approach me and tell me how much they love to come downtown to eat pizza at BASIC,” URBN founder Jon Mangini said. “Now residents of North County don’t have to make the long commute to curb their cravings. We’re thrilled to launch URBN in a growing neighborhood like Vista and couldn’t be more pleased with the overwhelming response we’ve received.”
Mangini says this is just the beginning for URBN and plans to open between 15 and 20 additional locations up and down the coast of San Diego, with Vista launching the debut establishment.
URBN is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11p.m. and Sunday from 4 to 10 p.m. For more information, call (760) 724-8840.
