CRC tea fundraiser raises over $130,000

ENCINITAS — The Community Resource Center hosted its 29th Annual CRC Tea on April 20, raising over $130,000 for CRC’s comprehensive services, including domestic violence emergency shelter, food pantry, housing assistance, legal advocacy, counseling and more.

The event was a celebration of community and hope, emphasized by the testimony of Jess, a domestic violence survivor who has now become a voice for advocacy and empowerment. She shared her journey, stating,

“My story is not just about survival; it’s about transformation and empowerment,” Jess said. “Together, I believe that we are creating a community where survivors like me can find strength, support and hope.”

The funds raised from this year’s tea will help CRC continue its critical programs. Over the past year, CRC experienced significant increases in demand for its services, including a 61% rise in visits for emergency food assistance and a 20% surge in calls to the domestic violence hotline.

During the event, CEO John Van Cleef shared that the community’s support of the CRC Tea can “transform a moment into a movement of hope.”

CRC thanked all of its donors, partners and volunteers who continue to support the organization’s mission – including Han and Ella Helders, Anne Daigle and Richard Heyman, and an anonymous local family whose challenge gifts significantly bolstered the fundraising efforts.

According to CRC representatives, the community’s unwavering support empowers the organization to make a significant impact on the lives of those in need.

The Tea Committee and Auction Committee were led by co-chairs Katrina Dodson, Marie Lampone, Carla Anderson, Paulette Khoury and Kathy Ling.
