BONSALL — The California Highway Patrol will conduct a driving-under-the-influence sobriety checkpoint today in an undisclosed location in the community of Bonsall.
According to a CHP news release, depending on traffic volume, “all vehicles will be checked for drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.”
“A sobriety checkpoint is a proven effective tool,” CHP officials said.
Capt. Brad Palmer said the CHP goal “is to ensure the safe passage of every motorist by targeting roads where there is a high frequency of intoxicated drivers.”
“All too often, members of our community are senselessly injured or killed on our local roadways by intoxicated drivers,” Palmer added. “Removing impaired drivers saves lives, and that’s our number one goal.”
Palmer added the CHP’s objective is “to send a clear message to individuals who consider driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs: you will be caught, and your vehicle will be towed away.”
