CARLSBAD — It’s show time with show tunes as the Carlsbad Playreaders present “Broadway Musicals Hit Parade” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium at Carlsbad City Library, 1775 Dove Lane, with live performances of musical theater hits.
The songs will include “For Good” from “Wicked,” “Send in the Clowns” from “A Little Night Music,” “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair” from “South Pacific” and “On My Own” from “Les Miserables.”
“Broadway Musicals Hit Parade” features Courtney DeCosky, Kathryn Herbruck, Paul Kruse and Matthew Tyler with musical direction and piano accompaniment by Richard Levinson.
DeCosky has appeared in “A Christmas Carol” at South Coast Repertory, “A Piece of My Heart” at Santa Monica Theatre Guild, “Marley’s Ghost” with Jeff Goode Entertainment, “The Night of the Iguana” and “Henry IV” at “A Noise Within,” and “The Glass Crystal” at Open Fist Theatre. Herbruck moved to San Diego in 1974 and co-created “The “Magic If,” an original music and comedy ensemble. She has worked on several productions at New Village Arts Theatre, including “Prelude to a Kiss.”
Kruse has appeared at numerous local theaters including Old Globe, San Diego Rep and Theatre in Old Town. At Starlight Musical Theatre, he’s appeared in “Crazy for You,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Company” and “The Scarlet Pimpernel.”
Tyler recently returned from London, where he appeared in “The Phantom of the Opera.” His favorite gig to date was appearing in the European Millennium Tour of “The Rocky Horror Show,” as Brad/Frank N Furter.
Richard Levinson played six voice roles with Los Angeles’ “Sacred Fools” Theater’s recent Retro Radio, and also can be found occasionally at No-Shame Theater/LA, or with Fred Willard’s sketch group, The MOHOs.
He is currently appearing in the hit musical, “Louis and Keely Live at the Sahara!” in Hollywood.
